Delhi Election 2025: More than 60 per cent of Delhi’s electorate cast their votes in the Assembly elections on Wednesday, according to the Election Commission’s Voter Turnout App, which last updated the figures at 11:30 pm. The final voter turnout is yet to be confirmed as updates continue on the app.

Polling across all 70 constituencies began at 7 am and concluded at 6 pm, with approximately 1.56 crore eligible voters in the national capital. As of 11:30 pm, the voter turnout stood at 60.44 per cent. The Northeast district recorded the highest turnout at 66.25 per cent, while the Southeast district saw the lowest at 56.16 per cent. Among constituencies, Mustafabad had the highest voter turnout at 69 per cent, whereas Mehrauli recorded the lowest at 53.04 per cent. 

Turnout in other districts included Shahdara at 63.94 per cent, Southwest Delhi at 61.09 per cent, Northwest Delhi at 60.70 per cent, North Delhi at 59.55 per cent, Central Delhi at 59.09 per cent, and Southeast Delhi at 56.26 per cent, as per the latest available data.

Delhi Election 2025 | Here are the developments in the much-awaited electoral battleground:

  • As of 5 pm, the voter turnout stands at 57.70 per cent, according to provisional data. Peaceful and orderly polling in Assembly Elections is underway in the National Capital Territory.  
  • Dismissing allegations of voter bribery, DCP of South East Delhi, in a post on X, writes, “Allegations of voter bribery at Sarai Kale Khan were promptly investigated. Police, along with the Exe. Magistrate/FST, ensured thorough verification. No evidence was found to substantiate the claims. Effective Police presence is maintained for peace and order.”
  • “These 300-400 fake voters have been brought from Loni in Uttar Pradesh, I feel like they are Bangladeshis, there are both men and women…we caught such 25 people, there is fake voting happening here…we have stopped it…Kejriwal is doing bogus voting,” alleges BJP candidate Anil Gaur, who is contesting from Seelampur Assembly constituency.
  • As of 3 pm, the voter turnout stands at 46.55 per cent across 70 Assembly constituencies in Delhi. Northeast Delhi records the highest voter turnout at 52.73 per cent, while Central Delhi has the lowest at 43.10 per cent
  • AAP leader Manish Sisodia alleges that the BJP is distributing money during the ongoing polls. Speaking to PTI, Sisodia says,”“Polling is going on smoothly, but at some places, BJP allegedly set up three tables instead of one, and money was being openly distributed. We had filed a complaint, and immediate action was taken, but such things should not happen. When the law allows only one table per polling center, why were three tables set up in one location? When I reached there, the money distribution stopped.”
  • The voter turnout stands at 33.31 per cent as of 1 pm. North East records highest turn out at 39.51 per cent, while Central Delhi sees the lowest at 29.74 per cent
  • AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal, along with his family members, shows his inked finger after casting his vote.
  • After casting his vote, former CJI DY Chandrachud says,”It is a big constitutional festival… be it on the national level or state level. It is important that citizens come out to vote. Our democracy is very mature, and people are cognisant of their responsibilities. They know which way to cast their vote.”
  • Senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi casts her vote at Nirman Bhawan.
  • Former president Ram Nath Kovind after casting his vote says, “It is a festival of democracy for all Delhi people. I appeal to all the voters to vote, voting is our constitutional duty, and moral responsibility.”
  • Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, along with his family, casts their vote at a polling station in Delhi.
  • Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi, along with her husband Robert Vadra and their son, cast their votes at a polling booth at Atal Adarsh Vidyalaya (NDMC), Lodhi Estate. After voting, they show their inked fingers. 
  • The voter turnout stands at 19.95 percent as of 11 am; North East Delhi and Shahdara record the highest with 24.87 per cent and 23.30 per cent, respectively.
  • Vice president Jagdeep Dhankhar after casting his vote says, “‘Matdaan’ is the biggest ‘daan’, it is the oxygen, foundation of democracy. It is the mother of all rights,” The importance of democracy is when everyone vote with a freedom. It helps democracy, he added.
  • “Delhi election is not a normal election. It’s a fight between truth and false, a fight between work and hooliganism. The people of Delhi will choose what’s best for them,” says CM Atishi as she casts her vote in Kalkaji Assembly constituency.
  • BJP MP Manoj Tiwari says, “People are voting to save Delhi, it is for the future of children, senior citizens, women, clean Yamuna, pollution-free Delhi.
  • “I appeal to the voters to come out of their homes and cast their vote for a better future, better education, health, and other facilities. Voters of Delhi are smart,” says AAP MP Raghav Chadha.
  • Till 9 am, voter turn out stands at 8.1 per cent across 70 Assembly constituencies in Delhi. Northeast Delhi has recorded the highest voter turnout at 10.70 per cent, while Central Delhi’s turnout stands the lowest at 6.67 per cent.
  • Taking a dig at AAP, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi urges people of Delhi to remember while voting who committed the biggest scam in Delhi while talking about practising clean politics. Earlier in the day, he cast his ballot in the New Delhi constituency at the Nirman Bhawan polling centre.
  • President Droupadi Murmu casts her vote for the Delhi Assembly elections on Wednesday, exercising her franchise at Rajendra Prasad Kendriya Vidyalaya, President’s Estate, amid tight security arrangements. Earlier in the day, Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, accompanied by his wife Sangeeta Saxena, also voted at St Xavier’s School, Raj Niwas Marg.
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi urges citizens to cast their votes as polling is underway for the Delhi Assembly elections. In a post on X, he writes,“Voting for all the seats in the Delhi Assembly elections will be held today. I urge the voters here to participate in this festival of democracy with full enthusiasm and cast their valuable vote. On this occasion, my special wishes to all the young friends who are going to vote for the first time. Remember: First vote, then refreshment!”
  • AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan has been booked on charges of violating the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) before the Delhi Assembly elections. The Okhla MLA was booked under Section 223 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for disobeying orders given by public servants and Section 126 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, after he was seen electioneering with over 100 supporters in Zakir Nagar on Tuesday night.
  • AAP MLA Dinesh Mohaniya has been booked for giving a flying kiss to a BJP woman worker, and his party colleague Ajay Dutt’s family members have been accused of assaulting a BJP woman worker.
  • On Tuesday, Chief Minister Atishi was booked for violating the MCC, and another case was lodged against her supporters for obstructing government work and slapping a cop.
  • After being booked, CM Atishi, the AAP candidate for the Kalkaji seat, slammed the Delhi Police and Election Commission of India (ECI) for “acting in a partisan manner.”
  • Security has been beefed up across polling booths in Delhi as voting is underway. About 3,000 polling booths have been identified as sensitive, with special security arrangements, including drone surveillance, at some locations. Ramping up security, Delhi Police has stationed additional forces at sensitive booths, with Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs) deployed to maintain law and order.
  • Polling is taking place across 70 seats from 7 am and will continue till 6 pm.
