The railway bookings portal of Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) faced issues temporarily on Sunday, leaving hundreds of users agitated as they were unable to make their travel bookings. The website, IRCTC.co.in, as well as the railway PSU’s mobile app were down. The services returned to normalcy in about an hour.
The problem started around 11:30 am on Sunday, leading to several users posting their grievances on social media.
The downtime was due to a maintenance activity, according to information available on the website.

Bookings and cancellations were not available for at least an hour, according to the notification.

IRCTC, a subsidiary of the Indian Railways, regretted the inconvenience caused to the users.

IRCTC is the only firm authorised by the Indian Railways to manage food services onboard trains and offer online railway ticket booking services.
Also, the IRCTC website and mobile app faced disruptions for about two hours on Saturday morning, causing inconvenience among passengers attempting to book their tickets and manage cancellations.
The disruption was reportedly caused due to a technical glitch.
However, the website was reportedly back in service around noon.

Later, IRCTC acknowledged the issue, stating that its technical team resolved the problem to restore normal operations.
The IRCTC platform has faced several instances of disruptions over the past few days.
